The world is traveling under formidable omens into a new era, an era no man can foresee, no man foretell. The country is undergoing more crime and violence than ever before in our history. The worst of our youngsters are growing up to become booted, sideburned, duck-tailed, unwashed, leather-jacketed beatniks and hippies; a large number of the best of our youth are coming into maturity for all the world like young people fresh from a dizzying roller-coaster ride with everything blurred, nothing clear, with no positive standards, with everything in doubt. An example of that is the turmoil and unrest in our colleges and universities wherein men with long hair and looking like women, and women with short hair dressed in pants looking like men are in the forefront of this unrest . . . Frequently, the news media and college professors and other adults with no practical experience in the hard, concrete facts of life are encouraging this disorder. In my opinion, and in the opinion of many others, all of this disorder is created and inspired by hard core Communists.
